In 1923, the establishment of the centre of Bela Vista marked the beginning of an important period of expansion for the colony. This expansion brought significant changes to the region, especially during the coffee harvest season. It became a common sight to see trucks loaded with coffee beans rumbling towards Varginha. In Varginha, coffee was stored and prepared for commercialisation, contributing to the local economy.
By 1955, Bela Vista, still under the management of its founder, experienced a remarkable coffee harvest. This harvest, which was considered quite high for the time, was a testament to the fertility of the land and the labour that went into its cultivation. However, intensive and continuous production eventually depleted the fertility of the soil, leading to a significant decline in yields in the following years.
As a result, the once common property was divided among the founder's children. One of the sons, Antonia Lima Reis, inherited the part known as Bela Vista, which included the original headquarters. This area had a spiritual and strategic value as it was the heart of the family's agricultural activities.
Today, the story of Bela Vista continues with a renewed sense of purpose and ambition. The descendants of Antonia Lima Reis are driven by the same desire to restore Bela Vista to its former glory. They aim to rejuvenate the land, applying modern farming techniques and sustainable practices to make Bela Vista as productive as it once was. This ongoing effort reflects a deep-rooted commitment to honouring their ancestral heritage while adapting to contemporary challenges and opportunities in agriculture.
